Can you have chocolate treats on a keto diet? Yes — hot chocolate, chocolate bark and even ice cream all work on keto once you switch to monk-fruit and erythritol sweeteners and sugar-free chocolate. These three chocolate recipes cover a warm drink, a make-ahead snack and a frozen dessert, all in stock at our Montreal store.

Net carbs, honestly. ChocZero’s cocoa and spread are sweetened with monk fruit and fibre — no sugar alcohols — so the hot chocolate is about 2-3 g net carbs. The bark uses real dark chocolate, so we count it at about 3 g per piece rather than calling it carb-free.

Keto Hot Chocolate

The easiest win on this list. ChocZero’s Classic Hot Cocoa is sweetened with monk fruit and soluble fibre — no sugar alcohols, so there is no cooling aftertaste — and lands around 2 g net carbs per packet on the milk-chocolate version (about 0 g on the dark). Stir it into warm unsweetened almond milk and, if you want it richer, whisk in a spoon of PB2 for a peanut-butter-cup mug.

Ingredients

Makes 1 mug
1 packet ChocZero Sugar-Free Classic Hot Cocoa
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or whole milk)
1 Tbsp PB2 with Cocoa (optional)
Pinch of sea salt

Directions

  1. Heat the almond milk in a saucepan or microwave until steaming.
  2. Whisk in the ChocZero hot cocoa packet until fully dissolved.
  3. For a peanut-butter version, whisk in the PB2 with Cocoa and a pinch of salt.
  4. Pour into a mug and serve hot.

Estimated macros — per mug (with unsweetened almond milk) (calculated from real product panels; sugar-alcohol carbs excluded from net carbs where labels support it — treat as estimates, not medical values).

Sugar-Free Chocolate Bark

A make-ahead snack that looks like a gift. Melt dark or sugar-free chocolate, swirl in a spoon of ChocZero keto spread for a marbled top, scatter nuts and coconut, then crack into shards. Honest note: the base is real dark chocolate, so plan on roughly 3 g net carbs per piece.

Ingredients

Makes ~12 pieces
150 g 85%+ dark or sugar-free baking chocolate
2 Tbsp ChocZero Keto Spread (Cookies & Creme Dunkies)
1/4 cup chopped almonds or pecans
2 Tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
Flaky sea salt

Directions

  1. Line a small tray with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the chocolate in 15-second microwave bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
  3. Pour onto the parchment and spread to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Dot the ChocZero keto spread over the top and swirl with a toothpick.
  5. Scatter with nuts, coconut and flaky salt.
  6. Freeze 20 minutes until firm, then break into shards. Store in the fridge or freezer.

I personally taste-test or quality-evaluate every product before it earns a spot on our shelves — including every keto sweetener, spread and sugar-free chocolate in these recipes. I built each recipe below with ingredients we actually stock, checked the net-carb math against the real Nutrition Facts panels, and flagged where sugar alcohols matter so you are never over-promised.
