Who is the David Gold bar for, and when should you eat it?
Built for cutting / body recomposition / high-protein dieters who need maximum protein with minimum caloric overhead. 28g protein, calories vary by flavour — see the nutrition facts panel image above, 0g sugar — the most protein-dense bar on the Canadian market (75% Calories From Protein). When to eat: post-workout, mid-afternoon snack, evening dessert replacement, or as a high-protein addition to a small meal. Perfect for: macro-trackers, celiac / gluten-sensitive eaters (certified GF), diabetics (no added sugar — but consult MD; still contains maltitol), and bar veterans tired of 250+ calorie protein bars. Try before you commit: singles let you taste-test each flavour before buying a box of 12. Pairs well with the David Bronze bar for a different texture experience, or a Barebells / Grenade for variety rotation.
What does it taste like, and any prep tips?
Soft, doughy chewy texture with flavour-specific inclusions (chocolate chips, fruit pieces, frosting swirls). Less indulgent / chocolate-coated than the David Bronze — Gold is engineered around protein density, not pure candy-bar mouthfeel. Owner-picked flavours: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Fudge Brownie, Cake Batter, and Cinnamon Roll are consistently top sellers. Microwave tip: 10–12 seconds for a softer, gooier texture — turns the Fudge Brownie and Cake Batter flavours into more of a dessert experience. Summer note: bars can soften in warm transit. Refrigerate flat 1–2 hours to reshape if needed. Only Onward Checkout+ covers shape damage from summer transit heat.
What are the macros and net carbs?
28g protein, ~150 calories, 0g sugar per bar. Total carbs and fat vary by flavour — always reference the nutrition facts panel image above for your specific variant. The carb structure comes from ~8g maltitol (sugar alcohol) + allulose + soluble corn fibre + glycerin, not sugar. Net Carbs formula: Net Carbs = Total Carbs − Fibre − Sugar Alcohols − Allulose (allulose is recognized as not counting toward total sugars on US labels and has minimal blood glucose impact). David Gold bars typically land at 2–3g net carbs per bar — but verify the label image for your specific flavour. Sugar alcohol note: if you're maltitol-sensitive, 8g per bar can cause GI distress at higher daily intake.
Allergens, certifications, and dietary fit?
Certified Gluten-Free — suitable for celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Contains: milk, egg, and soy. Peanut-flavoured variants contain peanuts. Some flavours contain coconut. May contain sesame and tree nuts — verify the current label per flavour. NOT vegan or vegetarian — contains collagen (animal-derived) and milk + egg proteins. NOT Informed Choice / Informed Sport certified (David is a snack bar, not a sport supplement). Not halal-certified per available info — collagen source is not disclosed. Returns: 30-day return on opened singles (≤7 if a multi-pack). Onward Checkout+ extends to 90 days + damage protection + 5% cash back.
